Mia Melon is based on a fictional character, created as a muse by designer Polly Green. Each season, Mia is into something new - she sets the stage for the story that is told through each collection. This is shown visually, with the use of signature prints and unique design details. Whimsical and feminine, Mia Melon is not without a dark side. She is never too girly, or follows fashion too closely. She is always on the cutting edge of fashion, but more importantly, she follows her inner voice of style, often with a sense of humor and confident quirkiness.
Polly Green is the designer of Mia Melon. A fashion graduate of Kwantlen's Design program in Vancouver, she launched her career in England where for 2 years she worked for renowned design duo Gharani Strok. Upon returning to Canada she worked for several local Vancouver companies as a freelance designer. She then partnered with Steven Liesch, who after 18 years in hair design and visual arts joined her and together they launched Mia Melon, which debuted in Spring 2007. Mia Melon was recently recognized as one of 3 finalists for Generation Next, a competition put on by BC fashion week showcasing the best up and coming Canadian labels for Spring 2008.
